The Red Pavilion stands out in NYC's nightlife as a beacon of AAPI culture and community resilience,
offering NOT just a night out, but a transformative experience.

Through purpose-driven experiences of art, hospitality and cultural exchange, we believe we can shatter entrenched stereotypes and dismantle structural inequalities, providing an intentional space where individuals and communities can reconnect, heal, and flourish.

The Red Pavilion was established in 2023 by Shien Lee in response to the escalating wave of violence targeting the AAPI community.

Dubbed “Priestess of the Night” by The New York Times, Taipei-born nightlife impresario Shien Lee is an experience architect with over 16 years of experience in the event and entertainment industry.

This visionary team is dedicated to amplifying the
representation of Asian voices and AAPI cultural
identity in New York.

Zoey is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) chef, food therapist, author and educator who excels in culinary experiences revolving around TCM food therapy.

THE SPACE

The Red Pavilion was realized by the vision of
interior designer Jordon Zadfar.

Merging elegant Art Deco elements with playful Chinese motifs and patterns, this once-empty warehouse was transformed into an intimate Asian neo-noir speakeasy with a hint of classic cyberpunk.

Inspiration was drawn from the films of Wong Kar-Wai, Zhang Yimou, Hou Hsiao Hsien, and David Lynch to invoke a moody and dream-like ambiance.

CLIO award-winning lighting designer Brian Tovar illuminates our floating world with intelligent lighting equipped to transport audiences from a German expressionist theater in one moment and a synesthetic Kowloon nightclub in the next.

Our sound system was designed with an obsession over quality by Jonathan Perrelly of Sloped Systems, featuring custom speakers made from Baltic birch wood bass reflex types loaded with premium drivers from Faital, Beyma and B&C.
